Morning Skies over Launceston

Good morning,

I do apologise for my absence, but winter arrived and thought it was time for hibernation and catch up on all my other inside projects!  I've also bought a new camera, a DSLR which I'm still trying to figure out all the "in's & out's" of, maybe by spring I should have figured a few things out.

With the camera still in automatic mode I was able to capture these amazing skies over Launceston the other morning which were taken from my back door.  It was about 7.05 am and these photo's were taken within 45 secs before it all disappeared.  Please be assured that these photo's have only been re-sized to enable upload to my blog and not touched up through any photo programme.  Hope you like them.

Hopefully I'll be able to master my new camera soon and be able to upload some new photo's.

Have a great day

Sunday Drive

After a busy working week, last Sunday a friend a I decided to take a drive up to Liawenee in the Central Highlands of Tasmania for the Trout Fishing weekend which gives people an opportunity to learn more about Tasmania's amazing wild trout fishery.  Unfortunately, as it was a very wet weekend, I didn't get the chance to take any photo's there.  So we decided to continue with our drive and head towards the Great Lake Hotel which offers hearty meals and a warm welcome for all travellers, but as it was a bit too early for lunch we decided to continue on our travels to Derwent Bridge to see the wood carvings by artist Greg Duncan, a must see for both locals and visitors to Tasmania.  After spending some time there, we continued to Lake St Clair to have lunch.  The rain was still continuing to fall and was very misty but gave a feeling of the true Tasmania wilderness.

After lunch we were in a bit of a quandary as to which way we would return home, so being the adventurous people we are, we decided to drive back via the Lyall Highway through Queenstown, Rosebery, Tullah and then over Cradle Mountain, by which time it was getting dark and still raining and of course not much to see.

We arrived home safely and have both decided that we will definitely do it all again, but this time when the weather is much better and maybe stay at Lake St Clair and do a bit of bush walking.

Safe travels everyone.

Tree Carvings

On my travels last weekend I passed through a place called Campbell Town and spotted these beautiful tree carvings by a local Tasmanian.  They are truly amazing!

Hope you are enjoying viewing my photo's!

Hope you are having a great day!

Good Morning

After a long absence due to my computer dying, I am now up and running with a new one.  Hopefully this one will last longer than the last one!!

These past few months have been very busy for me due to a wonderful visit from my brother and sister-in-law from England.  I've had the most amazing time with them, showing them around this beautiful place.  It has been 11 years since I last saw them and hopefully won't be too long before I see them again.

One of my favourite places we visited was Cradle Mountain.  It's such a magical place to visit, so with hiking boots on, our backpacks filled with the essentials and camera in hand we headed out on our walk around Dove Lake which is about 6.2 km and takes between 2-3 hours.

This next photo is of an Echidna, he was just wondering around the walkway at the Information Centre

Have a wonderful day!!

First Blog

Yesterday when surfing the internet I came across some bloggers post's and they gave the inspiration of starting my own blog spot.

I'm originally from England and came to Australia nearly 30 years ago.  After living in Sydney for almost 14 years I made the trek across Bass Straight and settled in Tasmania, which is the most amazing place to live.

So in future blog's I'll be able to post photo's and give an insight of life Down Under.
